Researchers at the University of Sheffield have developed Pipebots, miniature robots designed to navigate inside water pipes to detect and repair leaks without excavation. These robots, equipped with acoustic sensors and cameras, are deployed via fire hydrants, autonomously navigating and identifying leaks before relaying information to above-ground engineers.
