Scientists from Boston University, UC Berkeley, and Northwestern University have achieved a major breakthrough in scalable quantum technologies. Their research, published in Nature Electronics, details the world's first electronic-photonic-quantum system on a chip. This system integrates quantum light sources and stabilizing electronics using a standard 45-nanometer semiconductor manufacturing process, producing reliable streams of correlated photon pairs—a crucial resource for quantum computing, communication, and sensing.
