While living in Regina, Saskatchewan, the author developed a fascination with the early morning darkness, intertwined with his unique appreciation for the city's emptiness and crime. A chance encounter with a dark-sky preserve in Ontario led him to Grasslands National Park in Saskatchewan to experience true darkness.
