Initially appealing for its speed, this approach proved inefficient and costly due to a lack of structured planning and testing. Substantial rework and high token consumption resulted. Comparing vibe coding, AI chat, and web search, the author found a better balance using Gemini Code Assist (free, excellent context window) and Open WebUI (customizable, low cost). Future plans involve switching to a paid AI tool to further optimize costs.
