The study found certain Aspergillus species will expand their range, moving into new parts of North America, Europe, China, and Russia. Aspergillosis is particularly dangerous for immunocompromised individuals. Climate change not only expands fungal range but may also increase their temperature tolerance, making them more likely to survive within human bodies. Extreme weather events further aid spore dispersal. Experts warn of a need for more research and data to tackle the growing threat of fungal infections.
