Google Analytics, AdSense, and YouTube embeds allow Google to collect data even when DuckDuckGo is used. The study, comparing the US, UK, Sweden, and Switzerland, found that over 40% of US websites still sent data to Google, despite using DuckDuckGo. Stricter privacy laws in Sweden and Switzerland resulted in lower tracking rates. The findings highlight the need to reduce reliance on Google services and choose independent, privacy-first alternatives across all layers of the internet, not just browsing.
