Arizona Reports First Pneumonic Plague Death Since 2007

A northern Arizona resident has died from pneumonic plague, marking the first death from this form of the disease in the US since 2007. While plague is rare in the US, averaging about seven cases annually, pneumonic plague is the deadliest and most easily spread form, transmitted through infected flea bites or contact with infected bodily fluids.
